Zara Picken – The Mistress of Textures

I simply love her masterful use of subtle textures to add tactility and depth to an already interesting flat and geometric style. You can see the texture is there, but it’s not in-your-face obvious, it blends in nicely, it’s clearly a part of the image.
The occasional, crisp drop shadows and offset, screen-print-like fills add an extra level (or two) of appeal. I also like the contrast she creates with her colour choices.
