Silly Village – interactive story app

Silly Village is an interactive children’s book, a story app I’ve been working on for the most part of 2014. I’ve always wanted to illustrate a children’s book and since I’ve been making mobile games for years, making it into an interactive one made the most sense.

I wanted to keep it short and sweet so this little story I wrote when I was 7 years old seemed like the perfect idea. In a way this project is a collaboration between my 7 year old self and my 20 years older self:)

The story is about a village full of not-so-clever animals, which gave me plenty of opportunity to draw hilarious facial expressions and come up with a few truly silly characters. Every page contains a few idle animations and 4-5 interactive bits that will animate when pressed or swiped.

Below are few examples of what the pages look like. I paid great attention to composition and colour. My aim was to create a more pleasing experience for the eye than what most of today’s story apps are offering.
